Raney B. Smith Vice

November 11, 2012

Funeral for Raney B. Smith Vice, 78, of Huntsville, former longtime resident of Hartselle, will be Tues., Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church. The Rev. A. Ray Lee will officiate and Peck Funeral Home will be directing.

Burial will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vice died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at Huntsville Hospital. She was a proud graduate of Falkville High School Class of 1953. She loved her classmates and always enjoyed their class reunions. She took pride in standing up for victims of bullies, which usually resulted in Raney B. taking care of the problems. But most of all she loved her husband, children, grandchildren and all their friends. She will be missed by all, but especially by her devoted husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Wordlaw Smith and Eula Beatrice Winsett Smith, whom she got to meet for the first time in heaven on Sunday, and her foster parents, Clayton and Evelyn Hicks of Falkville.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles Wilson Vice; four daughters, Wilsolene Cadman and husband Tim of Decatur, Sheree Brundage and husband Dr. Paul of Huntsville, Carol Adkins and husband William of Groveport, Ohio, and Jennifer (George) Cullars of Huntsville; four grandsons, Venetez Adkins of Decatur, Ryan Barnett of Clinton, Miss., Joseph Adkins of Groveport and Austin Cullars of Huntsville; several sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law in Hartselle; and many friends and “adopted” grandsons, who loved to aggravate her and call her for pizza delivery late at night.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Falkville High School’s electronic sign fund or the American Heart Association.
