Falkville (7-3) at No. 7 Pickens County (8-2)

Series: First Meeting

Shutout in last two: Falkville was on pace to set scoring records after their first six games, but that opportunity was thwarted the last two weeks, as Ragland and rival Danville shut out the Blue Devils the last two weeks. Still for the season, Falkville is averaging 25.9 points per game and allowing 16.9 points per game. The Blue Devils will need to get their rhythm back to be able to keep up with Pickens County, which is averaging nearly 40 points per game.

Impressive résumé for Pickens: The Tornados have one of the most impressive regular season performances in Class 1A despite holding an 8-2 record. They have played a schedule against teams with a combined record 57-43. The held their own against Marion County in a 45-27 loss and then ended the regular season with a 14-13 loss to Class 3A powerhouse Gordo. They also have a win over Class 3A region champion Fayette County. Falkville must play its best game to keep this one close.

Great first season for Schrenk: Falkville has had one of its best football seasons in many years under first-year coach Joel Schrenk. They are guaranteed to have their first winning season since 2000. The future looks bright for the Blue Devils.
