Hartselle BOE approves $165,000 change order for field house to include softball
Softball locker rooms will be included in the state-of-the-art field house at the new Hartselle High School campus on Bethel Road.
The changes in the structure will increase the overall cost of the field house to $2.164 million, but Hartselle Board of Education members and coaches for baseball, softball and football said revised plan is a workable for everyone.
Head softball coach Christy Ferguson said she was happy with the revisions.

“I believe what we did is equal for everyone,” Ferguson said. “I agree that it is good solution.”
The girls dressing area will be a 580-square-foot area with space for up to 35 lockers. That equates to 16.6 square feet per locker.
Ferguson said they have at least 30 girls now in the program.
The football team’s locker room has 1,480 square feet in area and space for 110 lockers, for 13.5 square feet per locker. Baseball’s locker room is 887 square feet for 60 lockers – 14.8 square feet per locker.
School Superintendent Dr. Mike Reed said the softball locker room is located where a small weight room was located. He said they will move weight room equipment to a corner of the indoor practice facility, that is 53 yards long and 25 yards wide.
