Seniors welcome new members to Culver Road senior citizen site

Members of the first football team of Falkville High in 1924 were: Toppy Robinson, Wade Tomlinson, Roy Morris, Howard Patterson, Eddie Norton, Loyd Harkiness, Lester Phillips, Hal Long, Grady Long, Coy Summerford, Oliver Hodges and Clifton Teague. The coach was Burdick.

 

Halloween punch

1 jar grape juice

1 qt. vanilla ice cream

1 bottle ginger ale

Combine ingredients and put in a punch bowl and stir until ice cream is melted.

 

Chocolate pudding

1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding

1/2 cup chopped pecans

1/2 cup coconut

Make pudding according to directions and stir in remaining ingredients. Serve in dessert dishes.

 

Fried chuck

tender steak

1 pkg. (6) chuck tender steaks

1 pkg. Bisquick

celery salt

cooking oil

Batter the steaks in Bisquick and cook in cooking oil in a frying pan and add celery salt to taste. Cook steaks on both sides until tender.

 

Chocolate shake

1 cup chocolate ice cream

1 cup milk

1 banana, sliced

Stir ice cream in bowl until melted and add milk and banana.

 

School menu

October 8-12

Monday: pepperoni pizza, sloppy joe, baked beans, French fries, baked vegetables, canned banana, milk; Tuesday: taco salad, fish sandwich, broccoli and cheese, refried beans, frozen vegetables, fruit cocktail, milk; Wednesday: chicken sandwich, kraut, macaroni and cheese, frozen vegetables, turnip greens, cornbread, pear halves, milk; Thursday: chicken nuggets, cheeseburger, slaw, vegetables, mashed potatoes, wheat rolls, oranges, brownies, milk; Friday: spaghetti, corndog, canned yams, frozen vegetables, peaches, milk.

Breakfast: Monday: biscuit, sausage, fruit cocktail, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk; Tuesday: chicken biscuit, fruit cocktail, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk; Wednesday: breakfast pizza, fruit cocktail, cereal, juice, yogurt, milk; Thursday: pancakes, sausage, fruit cocktail, cereal, yogurt, juice; Friday: gravy biscuit, fruit cocktail, cereal, yogurt, juice, milk.

Ray and Becky Sanders, Howard and Helen Gibson, Franklin and Sue Harrison, Sarah Gaines, Jeanne Blackmon and Kenneth and Betty Harp met at Libby’s Restaurant in Priceville last Saturday for breakfast.

The senior citizens site, located on Culver Road in Falkville welcomes new members. They meet Monday through Friday, 8-12. They play card games, have lunch and dine out as a group once a month.
