Larimore trailers sustains fire loss
A Monday afternoon fire destroyed a large paint booth at Lawrimore Trailers’ manufacturing plant on U.S. 31 North in Falkville.
Falkville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at 5:50 p.m.
“When we arrived the building was fully involved in flames and one part of the roof was falling in,” said Fire Chief Chris Free. “We were able to contain the fire in the paint building and prevent it from spreading to two other buildings nearby, with the help of firefighters from Massey, Ebenezer and Hartselle.
He said Hartselle provided a ladder truck and the other two departments brought pumpers.
He said paints and paint thinner stored in the 40 by 100 ft. steel-framed metal building added fuel to the blaze and made it difficult to control.
The plant was closed for the day when the fire occurred.
Free said firefighters were on the scene for over two and one-half hours.
