Teacher Jane Knight retires at Danville-Neel School

Jane Knight is being missed by her fellow teachers and many friends at Danville-Neel Elementary School.

Mrs. Knight retired at the end of the 2011-2012 school year after serving as a schoolteacher for 36 years. During her long tenure at Danville-Neel, she headed up the school’s annual talent show and Pioneer Days observance and was noted as always having extra time for her students and their parents. She was a very dedicated teacher who earned the respect of her co-workers, students and parents. She was honored as “Teacher of the Year” on three different occasions by veteran’s organizations and was also named “Morgan County Teacher of the Year.”

Ms. Knight was mentioned several times in valedictory speeches by her former students. According to Linda Owens, she was the reason that her daughter, Jonna, chose education as a career.

Congratulations to Ms. Knight on a job well done and best wishes for good health and happiness in your retirement. It is people like you who make our world a better place in which to live.
