Two more qualify for council races
Two more candidates qualifed for the Hartselle City Council races on Wednesday.
Glenn McGann is now the third candidate vying for Council Place 3. He is currently facing Karen Owens and George Hearring. Place 3 is being vacated by Mark Mizell, who is moving out of Hartselle at the end of this term.
A.D. Hargrove initially qualified to run for Council Place 3, but City Clerk/Controller Rita Lee said he paid another $50 qualifying fee Thursday to switch to the Council Place 2 race. Hargrove is the first opponent for incumbent Bill Smelser.
As of midday Thursday, incumbents Kenny “K.T.” Thompson and Tom Chappell still had no opposition in places 1 and 4 respectively.
Jason Armstrong, Kenneth “Ken” Doss and Franklin Delano Turney are the three candidates vying for Council Place 5.
Current Place 5 Councilman Donald E. “Don” Hall is facing Johnnie J. Howell and Lee E. Hartsell.
