Seven qualify for Somerville election
All six positions up for election in the Aug. 28 Municipal Election in Somerville have at least one candidate through the first week of qualifying.
Mayor Darren Tucker has filed for re-election and is being opposed by Rodger McClure who has served on the town council in Place 4 since 1992.
Seeking re-election to a second term on the council are Tammy Frye, Place 2, and Sheena
Dugger, Place 1. Place 5 incumbent Jackie Teague is running for a third term.
Place 3 incumbent Joe Rogers is not seeking re-election. Qualified for that position is Michael Rea, a political newcomer.
Another political newcomer, Chris Hayes, is seeking the Place 4 position being vacated by McClure.
