Hartselle’s Rocky Garrison walked away with the grand prize – a season pass for a family of four to the new Hartselle Aquatic Center – as the last person standing in the second annual Mister Henry’s Sparkman Park Survivor played in Sparkman Park May 25-26.

Twenty other contestants participated in the competition, which featured a number of elimination games throughout the night. Joining Garrison as top three finishers were Dennis Baxter and Jay Owen.

Mister Henry’s Restaurant sponsored the grand prize and District 9 State Rep. Ed Henry, R-Hartselle, presented a one-day pool pass to the other contestants as a consolation prize.

In addition, contributed prizes valued at approximately $500 were awarded to individual game winners throughout the competition.

The games got under way at the park’s Pavilion No. 4 at 7 p.m. on May 25 and ended at 8 a.m. on May 26. The last hurdle for the last three standing was a run across the park and a swim across the Aquatic Center’s competition pool.

“This is something we do every year,” said Stacey McCormick, park and recreation programs director. “It was exhausting but a lot of fun.”
