Hartselle girls win section

Hartselle’s varsity girls soccer team won the Class 5A, Section 7 championship Monday night with a 2-0 win over Cullman.

The Bearcats defended well through the first half, but 15 minutes into the second half, Hanna Brown found the back of the net off a corner kick from Haley Patterson. Then, in the 75th minute, Sarah Horner scored the second goal off an assist from Alicia Timm. Chasity Golden earned her 10th shut out of the season in goal with help from her junior center back, Lindsey Woodruff.

The girls won all four of their section game, outscoring their opponents 11-0. The girls will host the first round playoff game on May 1st.

The boys soccer team took second place in section 7 after a losing to Cullman Monday night. The boys will travel on May 1st for the first round of playoffs.
