Lady Tigers in county tourney finals

Hartselle’s girls soccer team defeated Brewer 1-0 Thursday night in semifinals to make the Morgan County Soccer Tournament finals for first time.

Leah Roberts scored the lone goal on an assist from Cady Hensley.

The Lady Tigers will play Decatur on Saturday at 10 a.m.

HHS 5, West Morgan 0

Scorers were Leah Roberts, Sarah Horner, Alycia Timm, Lauren Haskins and Haley Patterson. Leah Roberts had two assists and Lori Milligan and Sarah Horner had assists also. Chasity Golden and Hannah Brown combined in goal for shutout.

HHS 1, Austin 0

The Lady Tigers defeated Austin for the first time ever on Tuesday.

Horner scored on a breakaway goal in the second half. Golden had the shutout.

“The girls played a great defensive game and shut them out after giving up four goals to them in an earlier meeting,” said HHS girls coach Jeff Roberts. “It was a total team effort and win and I am very proud of the team for stepping up and not ever giving up after being beaten earlier this year 4-1 by this same team.

“That shows how far we have come as a team. We were 1-8 at one point and have gone 9-0-1 since then to sit at 10-8-1 right now.”

Hartselle has allowed one goal in the last 10 games and scored 30. Twelve different players have score in that stretch and 14 different players making assists.

HHS 4, Brewer JV 0

Caroline Partlow and Stephanie Evans had their first goals of the year. Timm and Horner also scored. Amber Hicks had the shutout in goal.
