Somerville celebration huge success

Somerville news

I hope everyone had a great week. The tornadoes are two weeks past, but let us contine to remember all those who suffered loss during this time.
The Somerville Celebra-tion was a huge success. Despite the cool weather, there was a large turnout of people. There was a lot to be enjoyed by all ages. The pancake breakfast, food vendors, childrens play area, the music, tractor show, door prizes, and just some good fellowship among old-time friends were enjoyed by all who attended. A special thanks go out to the Cattlemen’s Association, town hall members, volunteer firefighters, County EMS, Ray and Regina Long, Somerville police officers and reserves, entertainers, those who donated door prizes, Somerville Baptist for the children’s area, Ronnie Bullard for pony rides and everyone who worked so hard  to make the event a success.
The Cotaco 12 and under Lady Patriots softball team won over Priceville S.W.A.T. in a victory of 11 to 3 at Huskey Park on Saturday. Coaches Alex Kent and Jennifer Hayes were very proud of the girls.
Happy late birthday wishes go out to Elliot O’Barr. Also birthday wishes go out to Kelsy Owen.
Jack and Faith Kemp enjoyed having a dinner at the home of Jacob and Ashley Daugette on Thursday night.
Somerville Assembly is a new church in town. It’s located just east of the caution light on Hwy. 67 on Blevins Rd. in Somerville. The first service will be held on Sunday, June 5th. Sunday school will be at 10:00 a.m., worship at 11:00 a.m. and Sunday night services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Pastor Jacob Daugette and congregation invite you to attend. There will also be a memorial service in memory of Brother Jerry Grimes, who was a dear friend and loving pastor to the congregation and Brother Jacob for many years. Brother Jerry went to be in Heaven on May 5, 2010. The memorial will be immediately following morning worship service on June 5th.
The Cotaco Indians 8 and under baseball team had a great season this year. Coach Tennis Owen is very proud of his team.
Decoration Day was held at Blue Springs Cemetery, Antioch Cemetery and Center Springs on May 8th; at Center Grove on Sunday, May 15th; and will be held at Red Oak on June 5th.
Our deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Will Stevens.
Most welcome visitor at the home of Vickey Daugette this week is Loy Maze from Vero Beach, Fla. Loy is my double first cousin. Jacob and Ashley hosted dinner Sunday night at their home. Visitors were Loy Maze, Tommy, Jennifer Hayes, Jeannie and Jacob Moore, Jaden Moore, Julie Daugette, Vickey Daugette and J.J. Daugette.
