Ready for blooms in Oden Ridge

Oden Ridge News

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day.  To us older folks it’s just about another day.  Everyone enjoyed the banquet at Journey Church. The youth “with the help of some good adult cooks” made and served the meal.
I sure hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather. I tried to get all the work outside and in that I had not done because of the weather, done on Saturday. We have been dreaming of a trip but weather and money have sure kept it just dreams.
Usually on my birthday, February 2nd, I have daffodils blooming. This is the first time I can remember that I haven’t had blooms.  Did you know you can break off forsythia limbs and put them in water, in a sunny spot and they will bloom?  Peach limbs will also.  I have some blooming now!
My daughter has been working on her cold frames.  She starts lots of our garden plants and flowers this way. Spring, oh Spring, we are so looking for you.
I talked to Pauline Pike one day last week.  She said she was fine, just lonely. We all need to call and see her.
Ruby Oden was in the hospital recently. She is much better and so is Hubert. They had several visitors while she was sick. Shirley Johnson, Glenda Gord, Brynela Aday, and Pat and Bobby Beavers were some of their visitors.
Dan and Leisha De Qusada and Jon “her son”, got in some great sled riding during the last snow. Some kids never grow up!
Pat and Bobby Beavers enjoyed a trip to Dade City, Florida.  The enjoyed picking some oranges to bring home.
We have several birthdays and wish them all the best.  Ms. Mary McEluery celebrated her 84th birthday on the 3rd.  Our great-granddaughter Breanna Stack was a Valentine baby, on the 14th of course.  My sweet granddaughter Alisha will celebrate her day on the 23rd.
The Fellowship Quartet will be singing at Oden Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday the 19th at 7:00 pm.  Jeff Halbrooks sings with this group. We all love Jeff so everyone come and bring someone.  There will be refreshments afterwards.
Tyler Drinkard had surgery on his leg that he broke.  The surgery was on Monday. Keep him in your prayers.
