Falkville, Priceville drop region losses on road

FULTONDALE – Falkville surrendered five touchdowns in the first quarter against Fultondale Friday night on the road and never recovered in a 55-8 loss to the Wildcats in a Class 2A, Region 7 game.
Falkville dropped to 1-6 overall and in region play with the loss.
Ardarius Stewart scored twice in the first quarter for Fultondale and finished with 156 yards rushing on 10 carries in the game. He also completed three of his four pass attempts for 63 yards.
Fultondale also had several big yardage touchdowns against the Blue Devils. The Wildcats scored on a 44-yard touchdown pass from Stewart to Deundrea Marshall.
Samuel Brown added a 70-yard touchdown run and Marshall returned a punt 80 yards for another score.
Stewart pushed Fultondale’s lead to 35-0 with a 14-yard touchdown run just before the end of the first quarter.
Fultondale added a second-quarter touchdown to take a 41-0 lead at the half.
Falkville scored its lone touchdown midway through the fourth quarter.
Falkville returns to action Friday when the Blue Devils face Brindlee Mountain on the road in a non-region game. The Lions are 0-7 and have scored just 35 points this season.
Brooks 55, Priceville 6
Priceville dropped to 0-7 overall with a 55-6 loss to Brooks Friday night in a Class 4A, Region 8 game at home.
Brooks’ Raekeal Beasley led the Lions’ effort with a blocked punt and an interception he returned 74 yards for a touchdown.
Brooks improved to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in region play with the win.
The Lions opened up a 28-6 lead in the first half and added to the margin when Clint Prestage returned the second-half kick 85 yards for a touchdown.
Beasley’s interception return gave Brooks a 48-6 advantage.
The Lions’ final touchdown came on a Jerrod Martin 32-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Priceville will face Deshler in a region game on the road Friday.
