Danville crushes Vinemont

DANVILLE - A pair of Jacobs shut down Vinemont’s offense as Danville swept a doubleheader Thursday at home.
Jacob Young and Jacob Fields were solid on the mound as the Hawks beat Vinemont 7-1 in the opener before adding an 11-4 win in the second game.
Danville improved to 11-1 overall with the two wins.
Young went five innings in the first game to earn the victory.
Vinemont had just two hits in the game and scored its only run in the fourth inning with an RBI sacrifice fly.
Parker Hogan led Danville with three hits in the first game, including a triple. He scored twice.
Matthew Vest added a hit and scored a run.
The Hawks also got two runs from Cole Veazey. Schuyler Forman and Zac Ward added one run each.
Danville finished with five hits in the first game.
Fields pitched Danville to the win in the nightcap.
The Hawks’ Jesse Posey and Jacob Young had two singles each. Forman added a double, while Veazey contributed a single as the Hawks picked up their 11th win.
