Funeral for Roberta Taylor Bates, 71, of Falkville was Saturday, May 10, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Miller and Tommy Denton officiating.
Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mrs. Bates died Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Hartselle Medical Center. She was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Tennessee to Jesse Taylor and Janie Naymon Taylor. She was a member of Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Earsie Bates; two daughters, Wanda Kay Bates and Joyce Ann Griffin, a twin brother, Robert Taylor, a brother, Gordon Taylor and a sister, Mary Speakman.
She is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Jacobs of Falkville; a brother, Charles Taylor of Falkville; a sister, Beatrice Davis of Tennessee; nine grandchildren, Jamie Emerson and wife Amanda of Hartselle, Mary Burrell and husband Glenn, Kay Denton and husband Tommy, and Connie Tidwell, all of Georgia, Junior Kritner and wife Amy, Jennifer Hurd and husband Josh, Justin Jacobs and Kelly Tidwell, all of Falkville and Nancy Kritner; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jamie Emerson, Junior Kritner, Justin Jacobs, Josh Hurd, Glenn Burrell, Tyler Emerson, Kyle Burrell and Danny Speakman.
A special thank you is extended to the Falkville Healthcare staff, Hartselle Medical Center staff, Dr. Vakharia and Hospice of the Valley.
