Tigers finish 2-2 on road trip

The Hartselle Tigers split four games on the road last weekend in a two-day trip to the southern part of the state. Hartselle (6-4) lost two games Friday night, dropping a 4-1 game to Daphne and a 2-1 loss to Fairhope, but bounced back to win both games Saturday, defeating Robertsdale 15-2 and squeaking by St. Francis (Atlanta) 6-5 in a game played at Gulf Shores High School.
Hartselle 6, St. Francis (Atlanta) 5
Luke Bole's one-out triple drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning as Hartselle defeated St. Francis Saturday at Gulf Shores High School. Ryder Brasher reached base on an error with one out in the seventh and Bole followed him with a triple off the centerfield wall.
The hit made a winner out of J.C. Bates, who pitched the seventh inning. Chad Girodo started the game for the Tigers, striking out four and allowing five hits and five runs in five innings of work. Will Rankin pitched a scoreless sixth inning.
Hartselle trailed 5-3 after five innings but scored two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game, setting up Bole's heroics.
Bole finished the game 2-for-3 and collected two RBIs and scored a run. Quinn Dunlap was 1-for-3 with a double and scored a run; Josh Aycox finished 1-for-3 and scored a run and Caleb Murphy was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
Hartselle 15, Robertsdale 2
The Tigers scored five runs in both the fifth and seventh innings to break the game open. Hartselle scored two runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed in the win.
Bole picked up the win, pitching 4.1 innings and striking out four while allowing three hits. Brasher pitched 0.2 innings and allowed one hit and Garrett Turrentine pitched the final two innings, allowing one hit.
Dunlap finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored and Ethan Widener was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Aycox was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored; Murphy finished 2-for-5 and scored two runs; Brasher was 1-for-3 and scored a run; Bole was 2-for-3 and scored two runs; Will Chappell finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and scored two runs and Tony Weaver was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run.
Fairhope 2, Hartselle 1
The Tigers managed just two hits in the loss. Will Rankin pitched all six innings for Hartselle, allowing five hits and striking out five.
Aycox and Bole each finished 1-for-3 to account for Hartselle's hits. Murphy had the only RBI when he hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded in the third inning.
Daphne 4, Hartselle 1
Caleb Murphy had the only hit for Hartselle, finishing 1-for-2 and stealing a base. The losing pitcher was Bates, who struck out three and walked one in six innings of work.
