Eeek! There’s a mouse in the house

I like animals. I’m pro-dog, I like some cats and I like it when the birds and butterflys flutter around our yard. There are some times, however, when I just have to draw the line.
For me, that time comes when there’s a species that has a long thin tail, pointy nose and claws. I have no love for the rodent family, even those domesticated types like hamsters and gerbils that people keep in cages. I don’t even like squirrels, which, after all are nothing more than rats with fuzzy tails.
That’s why I went into freak-out mode recently when it became quite obvious our house had a mousy visitor.
He did. He called the exterminator and then placed some traps throughout the house. They weren’t the normal types of mouse traps, though, they were trays of sticky material designed to snare the rodent but not kill them.
I didn’t want anything to do with the entire process, so I left it to Greg. Still, I knew those traps were there and dreaded the day I would come across some creature trapped on one.
That’s just what happened Sunday night, when I heard a strange noise coming from the laundry room. At first I thought the dryer was making a noise but I soon realized where the “scratch, scratch” noise was coming from.
I panicked.
He calmly went to the laundry room, picked up the trap and carried it outside. He came back into the house a few minutes later.
He looked at me sheepishly.
Greg looked at me as if I’d lost my mind.
I know, I know. And I’m glad to get rid of the mouse. But there’s no need to be mean about it. However, the mouse better get the message. The next time he comes around, I won’t be so pleasant.
