The College Street Players are gearing up for "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" in Hartselle this holiday season.
Ed Balch, director, will hold open auditions for the holiday production Tuesday, Aug. 15, 7-9 p.m. at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center. Those auditioning should be prepared to read the script, which will not be released prior to auditions, and able to sing traditional Christmas carols in a group.
"We will use everyone who shows up," Balch explained. "There are approximately 30 speaking parts, but we'll need many additional children to complete the cast. Also, anyone interested in costuming, set design, or any aspect of theater will be utilized for this and each production."
"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" will be presented Dec. 7-9 at the Hartselle Fine Arts Center, including two special performances for Hartselle elementary school students.
Speaking roles will be cast for four adult males, six adult females, eight young males and nine young females.
"This is one of many productions planned for the Hartselle Fine Arts Center with the College Street Players," Balch said. "It will be a lot of work, but it will very entertaining and a great way to introduce the community and school age children to the performing arts. Anything I can do to expose kids to good, clean entertainment, I want to do it."
