Funeral for the Rev. Marvin T. Johns, 89, of Hartselle was Thursday, April 14, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Elliott officiating
Burial was in Hartselle Memory Gardens.
Rev. Johns died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Summerford Nursing Home. He was born April 27, 1916, in Tuscaloosa County to Thomas Lewis Johns and Lucy Coffee Bridges Johns. He started preaching in 1939 in the Church of God and was a faithful and dedicated servant of God for 63 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Johns; a daughter, Betty Lou Epperson; and a grandson, Danny Mora.
He is survived by two sons, James M. "Johnny" Johns and Wallace D. Johns, both of Hartselle; two daughters, Juanita M. Tyre of Homestead, Fla. and Kay Bennett of Falkville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tim Vest, Luke Vest, Daniel Beavers, Chris Bennett, Jeff Bennett and Brent Johns.
