William Gerald Nesmith Sr.

Funeral for William Gerald Nesmith Sr., 84, of Falkville was Monday, April 10, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Nappier officiating.
Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Nesmith died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Morgan County to Adlie E. Nesmith and Clara Jane Oldacre Nesmith. He was a retired carpenter and a World War II Navy veteran, having served on the Destroyer Escort USS Booth. He was a member of Piney Grove Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Opal Wilhite Nesmith of Falkville; a son, William Gerald Nesmith Jr. and a daughter, Anne Miller and husband Everett, all of Eva; two brothers, Benton Nesmith of Hawkins, Tex. and John Nesmith of Hanceville; two sisters, Margaret Powell and Martha Jo Byrd, both of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Earl Miller and wife Stephanie, Stephen D. Miller and wife Geanni, all of Eva, Lisa Bowen and husband Dwane of Somerville and Amy Woodall and husband Gary of Skyline; six great-grandchildren, Constance Miller, Ashley Miller, Stephen L. Miller and Nathaniel Miller, all of Eva and Shelbi Bowen and Jessi Bowen, both of Somerville.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cullman County.
