Norma Jean Thaxton

Funeral for Norma Jean Thaxton, 76, of Priceville was Tuesday, April 11, at 3 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with Manley Luscombe officiating.
Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Thaxton died Friday, April 7, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital following a long battle with diabetes. She was born April 20, 1929, in New Boston, Ohio to Charles Webb and Perlina Webb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Thaxton, her parents and a brother, Edward Webb.
Prior to moving to Alabama to be closer to her parents, Mrs. Thaxton and her husband lived in Dover, DE. While living there she a cashier at the Dover Air Force Base commissary for several years. After moving to Priceville, she worked at the Point Mallard Golf Course snack bar where she enjoyed visiting with local celebrities. She was a member of Priceville’s Senior Center where she enjoyed playing cards with her sister “Jodie” and friends. Shopping and paling around with her sister was her favorite past time.
She was a member of Priceville Church of Christ and Priceville Civitan Club.
Called “Jeannie” by her family, she was a loving mother, sister and daughter.
She will be sadly missed by her sister, Joanne Cunningham; three children, Betty King, April Thies and Donald Thaxton Jr.; three stepchildren, Sharilyn Hummel, Glen Thaxton and Dale Thaxton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Priceville Church of Christ, 1938 N. Bethel Road, Decatur, AL 35603.
