Tigers finish 0-4 at tough LaGrange Tournament

Hartselle finished 0-4 and in eighth place at the LaGrange Invitational Tournament the past weekend, losing games to No. 1-nationally ranked Nova (Fla.), Cartersville (Ga.), Parkview (Ga.) and LaGrange (Ga.).
Nova (Fla.) 17
Hartselle 3
The Tigers gave the top-ranked Nova team a real scare, leading 3-1 heading into the sixth inning. But Nova's bats exploded in that inning, scoring 13 runs to put the game out of reach and end Hartselle's chances at the upset.
Keith McCaghren started the game and pitched well before running into trouble in the sixth inning.
Seven of Nova's runs in the game were unearned.
Nathan Kimbrell had a good game at the plate, finishing with two hits and two RBIs. Quinn Dunlap was 1-for-2 with a double.
Parkview (Ga.) 6
Hartselle 1
Hartselle trailed 6-0 before coming up with a run in the seventh inning.
J.C. Bates started and pitched five innings and Steven Chop pitched the final two innings in relief, allowing three runs.
Josh Aycox was 1-for-2 at the plate with an RBI.
LaGrange (Ga.) 11
Hartselle 6
The Tigers used four pitchers in the game and found themselves down 9-0 after five innings of play.
Will Rankin started and pitched 4.2 innings, Chop 1.1, Alex Agee 0.2 and Chad Girodo 0.1.
Jordan Parker and McCaghren each had a two-RBI double and Dunlap and Justin Hargett each scored two runs.
Cartersville (Ga.) 7
Hartselle 5
Bole pitched five innings, allowing four runs and scattering six hits while striking out five. Hartselle led 5-4 after five innings, but Cartersville scored three runs in the sixth to keep the Tigers winless in the tournament.
Daxton Maze scored two runs and had an RBI and Cody Thomas collected an RBI.
Hargett scored two runs for the Tigers.
