Dec. 8, 1955 -Tommy Dodson entertained tonight with a dinner party honoring Betty and Wesley Lavender who will leave shortly after Christmas with their parents for a new home in Texas. The Christmas theme was carried out in detail in all decorations throughout the home of Tommy and his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Houston Dodson.
Dec. 8, 1955 -Fire Chief Comer Henderson this week made an urgent appeal to motorists to give the firetruck the right of way when the firemen are answering a call to a fire.
Dec. 9, 1955 -Actress Jane Russell has reported for wardrobe fittings for her new movie, "The Revolt of Mamie Stover," penned by Hartselle's William Bradford Huie. Mr. Huie recently moved to a new home on Barclay Street.
Dec. 9, 1955 -Robert Stephenson, Hartselle employee at Wolverine Tub Division in Decatur, has been promoted to general accounting supervisor.
Dec. 10, 1955 -Santa Claus himself paid his first visit to the downtown area of Hartselle today. E. E. Maddox, a leader in the Hartselle Chamber of Commerce, arranged his visit.
Dec. 11, 1955 -The MCHS graduating class of 1953 is planning a holiday-themed reunion at the home of Charles Ray. Members who are married will be asked to bring their spouses.
Dec. 11, 1955 -Mrs. Eva Bodley is working on the refreshments for the upcoming Salem Methodist Church Christmas party.
Dec. 12, 1955 -Bob Orr, now a sophomore, was recently named as the most outstanding freshman at the University of Alabama for the 1954-55 school year.
Dec. 13, 1955 -O. P. Sivley is getting back into the grocery business. He will soon begin operation of the Sivley Grocery Company on East Main Street in his former location. Mr. Sivley tried retirement but says he found he had too much time on his hands.
Dec. 14, 1955 -Today in a few schools there was a small observance of Alabama's admission to the Union on this date in 1819 as the 22nd state.
