Dec. 8
The Hartselle Newcomers Club will meet Thursday, Dec. 8 at 10:30 a.m. at Giovanni's Italian Restaurant (located at the former Emporium, across from Hartselle Depot). Members should bring a wrapped gift (limit $10) for a game of "Dirty Santa." First United Methodist Church will provide childcare. Backstage Theater Company will present Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" Dec. 9, 10 and 11. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday shows start at 2 p.m. All seats are $12 and general admission. Tickets are available at Studio One. Dec. 10
Hartselle Parks and Recreation will host lunch with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 11:30 a.m. for children ages eight and younger. Santa will have and lunch and visit with each boy and girl. Space is limited, so reserve your place today by calling Sparkman Civic Center at 773-2581 before Dec. 7. Fee is $1 per child and must be paid on the day of the event. Photos with Santa will be available for $2 each.
Enjoy the charm and splendor of the Victorian Era while touring homes and other historic buildings during the annual historic Christmas Tour of Homes in Decatur on Dec. 10 from 3-8 p.m. Tour sites for this year include five historic homes, the Old State Bank, Carnegie Visual Arts Center, Christ's Mission and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Tour-goers will enjoy carolers, complimentary refreshments and special presentations on Christmas decorations and the historic districts. Carriage rides will also be available in each neighborhood for $10 per person.

Dec. 11
New Center Baptist Church will host "Christmas in Cricket Country," a one-act Christmas comedy performed by the single adults and youth, Sunday, Dec. 11 with a matinee performance 4-5 p.m. and an evening performance 6-7 p.m. It's the social clash of the Christmas season when city cousins take the limo and drive out to Cricket Country for the reading of Uncle Zeke's will on Christmas Day. This hilarious play will take some unexpected twists and turns. Don't miss the country cousins' amazement as they are introduced to big city cousins. As a special treat, all the way from Hickory Stick, N.C., the Jethro's Country Band will pick and grin for you. The event is free as New Center Baptist Church's gift to you. Visitors are welcome.

Hartselle Church of God of Prophecy on Stewart Street will host a Christmas concert with Sandy Cagle and an evening with Santa on Sunday, Dec. 18 with the concert at 5 p.m. and Santa arriving at 6 p.m. The event is free and the community is welcome and invited to attend this special Christmas event.
