James Eric Tanner

Funeral for James Eric Tanner, 67, of Danville was Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Son Rise Baptist Church in Hartselle with the Revs. James Wray and Grad Tanner officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Tanner died Monday, Oct. 17, 2005, at his residence. He was born Oct. 22, 1937, in Morgan County to Thomas and Evie Tanner. He was a disabled retiree from Joe Wheeler EMC where he worked as a lineman. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Color Guard member and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. He was a member of Son Rise Baptist Church where he served as a member of the finance committee. He was preceded in death by his parent, a brother, Thomas Burrell Tanner; and a niece, Angie Tanner.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Payne Tanner of Danville; a son, James Eric Tanner II and wife Kellie of Danville; two daughters, Cathy Tanner Moebes and husband Ricky of Decatur and Carol Tanner Eliff and husband Alan of Falkville; a sister, Effie Mae Cole of Mt. Hope; five grandchildren, Lindsey Westmoreland, Leah Eliff, Arlie Tanner, Chase Summerford and Alex Summerford; a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Jade Kotlik; several nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Glenn Waddell, Tommy Blankenship, Clayton Ledlow, Bobby Maples, Thomas Tanner and Donnie Ford.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark England, James Parker, Steve Tanner, Jack Summerford, Buddy Brady, Mike Cadle and Billy Don Ryan.
Memorials may be made to the Son Rise Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
