Lacon's "treasures" on show

Turner South's Junkin' features Trade Days
Leada Gore, Hartselle Enquirer
Imagine buying a chicken salt and pepper shaker at a flea market for $2, then turning around and selling it for $45. Quite a smart purchase, huh?
That's just one of the finds coming from the television show Junkin's recent trip to Lacon Trade Days.
The show will air on Turner South Oct. 18 at 9:30 p.m. The show regularly features hosts Val Myers and Dave Bird attending yard sales and flea markets throughout the South. In their search for interesting junk, the hosts often happen along some unusual people, too.
The pair specializes in strange items and will search for special requests when asked. At Lacon, the hosts found such treasurers as stuffed frogs playing dominos, vintage Hot Wheels, old wigs and, at the request of Bird's grandmother, a cast iron skillet. And don't forget that chicken salt and pepper shaker, which was eventually bought by a Tennessee woman. They also traveled to yard sales around Falkville.
Each of the items the host finds are auctioned online to viewers.
