Walters, Gurley to wed May 21
Dennis and Sandy Walters of Madison, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Julia Renee Walters, to Luke Elliott Gurley, son of Richard and Jennie Gurley of Cullman, formerly of Hartselle.
The bride-elect is a 2001 graduate of Morgan County High School in Madison, Ga., and will graduate May 7 from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in management. She is the granddaughter of Lawrence and Callie Blakeslee of Boise, Idaho, Lee Hayes and Betty Hawks, both of Winder, Ga., and the late Darwin Walters.
The groom-elect is a 2001 graduate of Hartselle High School and will graduate May 7 from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in management. He is the grandson of Alvie and Christeen Elliott of Haleyville.
The wedding will be held May 21 at 2 p.m. at Centennial Baptist Church in Rutledge, Ga.
Matthews, Bloodworth to wed Aug. 6
Alan and Addene Matthews of Somerville announce the engagement of their daughter, Branda LeAnn Matthews, to Chad Benton Bloodworth, son of Laura and Dennis Ramey and Tony Bloodworth, all of Hartselle.
The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Hartselle High School and is pursuing a degree in elementary education at Athens State University. She is employed with Arab Elementary School.
She is the granddaughter of Tiny and Bob Morris and Virginia Matthews, all of West Virginia.
The groom-elect is a 2002 graduate of Hartselle High School. He is employed with O'Reilly Auto Parts. He is the grandson of Bill and Dawn Broyles of Hartselle.
The wedding will be held Aug. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Somerville Baptist Church.
Stephenson, Douglass to wed
Ned and Betsy Stephenson of Hartselle announce the engagement of their daughter, Pamela Jean Stephenson, to Jason Richard Douglass, son of Richard and Sondra Douglass of Birmingham.
The bride-elect is a graduate of A.P. Brewer High School and will graduate this August from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She is the granddaughter of L.D. and Nan Beavers and Bertie Stephenson, all of Hartselle, and the late James L. Stephenson.
The groom-elect is a 2001 graduate of Chelsea High School and will graduate this December from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a bachelor's degree in nursing.
He is the grandson of the late Robert and Mary Douglass and the late Bobby and Janice Lawrence.
The wedding will be held Aug. 13 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Holmes, Waters to wed June 4
Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Holmes announce the engagement of their daughter, Kerri Elizabeth Holmes, to Michael Jeremy Waters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Waters.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Margaret Poole, Janie Mae Holmes, the late C.A. Poole Jr., and the late Emmett Holmes. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a bachelor's degree in art and marketing. She is a member of Piney Grove Christian Church and is employed by Jacobs Sverdrup in Huntsville.
The groom-elect is the grandson of Ann Miller, Jerry Thomas, Faye Waters, the late Doug Miller, and the late Grady Waters. He is a graduate of Athens State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration and management. He is a member of Hazel Green United Methodist Church and is employed by CAS, Inc. in Huntsville. The couple will exchange vows June 4 at 2 p.m. at Hazel Green United Methodist Church.
Judkins, Murphy to wed May 7
Dr. Dale and Donna Leonard of Decatur and Donald and Beckie Judkins of Hartselle announce the engagement of their daughter, Leslie Denise Judkins, to Harold Douglas Murphy III, son of Doug and Becky Murphy of Guntersville.
The bride-elect is a 1997 graduate of Hartselle High School, the University of North Alabama with a bachelor's degree in biology, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a master's degree in physical therapy. She is employed as a physical therapist with Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield. She is the granddaughter of James and Mildred Spigner and Martha Wildman, all of Hartselle, the late Kermit Crittenden and the late Cecil Judkins.
The groom-elect is a 1995 graduate of Guntersville High School and a 2000 graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in agronomy and soils.
He is employed with the Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District. He is the grandson of Doug and Peggy Murphy of Florence and Russell and Lib Condra of Sheffield.
The wedding will be held May 7 at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club in Killen.
