Leroy Carney

Funeral for Leroy Carney, 78, of Jasper, will be Thursday (today), Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Thomas Hyche officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Carney died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Georgia to George Carney and Dillie Owen Carney. He moved to Falkville from Georgia in the early 1960's and worked with Pillsbury and started a hatchery. He later moved to Jasper to take over the hatchery in Curry, which was later bought out by Gold Kist. He retired as manager from Gold Kist in 1994. Mr. Carney was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Thompson Carney.
He is survived by one son, Scott Carney of Jasper, one daughter, Linda Hyche and husband Thomas of Jasper; one sister, Montine Free of Georgia; one brother, Bill Carney of Georgia; one granddaughter, Annelise Hyche; and a host of nephews and nieces.
