Funeral for Billy Joe Parker, 68, of Hartselle was Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Henderson and Hal Daigre officiating.
A military graveside service was held at Herring Cemetery.
Mr. Parker died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Parkway Medical Center. He was retired from Shelby Contractors as a shop foreman/diesel mechanic. He was retired after 24 years as staff sergeant with 1343 Engineers Company C, Alabama National Guard. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nell Thompson Parker of Hartselle; three daughters, Doris Thrasher and Donna "Jodie" McCormick, both of Danville and Janet Lewis of Falkville; three brothers, Walter Parker of Mount Hope, Owen Parker of Falkville and Jack Parker of Decatur; two sisters, Margaret Wilbanks of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Wanda Grant of Decatur; four grandsons, Justin Linderman, Jacob Linderman, Jonathan Thrasher and Cody McCormick; one granddaughter, Dallas Thrasher; and one stepgranddaughter, Amber Lewis.
Pallbearers were Jim Burchell, Oscar Kent Jr., James Hogan, Jeremy Hendrix, Don Lee and David Bullard.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Knowlton, Earl Rigsby, Royce Thrasher, Billy Wayne Wilbanks and his grandsons.
