Hartselle dominates Tiger Duals

The Hartselle Tiger wrestling team improved to 16-1 by winning all four matches during the Tiger Duals I last Saturday at the Pettey Center.
The Tigers gave away 12 points in each match by forfeits at the 112-pound and 119-pound classes. Hartselle's Andrew Durham couldn't wrestle due to an injury, and the Tiger's don't have a 119-pound grappler.
Hartselle 59,
Brookwood 18
Kaleb Blanton won by decision at the 125-pound class and Dennis Smith won his 145-pound match by decision as well. All other Tiger wrestlers won by pin, as Hartselle easily won the day's opening match.
Recording pins were Rico Elliott at 103, Hunter Brasher at 130, Brett Bidwell at 135, Luke Mize at 140, Corey Farmer at 152, Andrew Watson at 160, Kurt Hamilton at 171, Adam Faulk at 189, Travis Lightle at 215 and heavyweight Brad Eubanks.

The Tigers won every match against the visitors from Memphis, Tenn. expect the two forfeits.
Kurt Hamilton won 14-0 at 171 pounds, while Blanton won 14-4 at 125 and Brasher won 10-4 at 130.
Elliott, Bidwell, Mize, Smith, Farmer, Watson, Hamilton, Faulk, Lightle and Eubanks recorded victories by pin.

Rico Elliott suffered his first loss of the season when he was pinned, but the rest of the Tigers won their matches.
Blanton won 13-5 at 125, Brasher won 19-2 at 130, Bidwell won by pin at 135 and Mize won 14-2 at 140. Smith won by pin at 145, Farmer won by pin at 152, Watson won 13-6 at 160, Hamilton won 9-5 at 171, Faulk won 14-6 at 189, Lightle won 6-4 at 215 and heavyweight Eubanks recorded another Tiger pin.

Brett Bidwell suffered a 16-14 overtime loss, but the rest of the Hartselle team won their matches as the Tigers topped the visitors from Louisiana.
Elliott at 103, Blanton at 125 and Brasher at 130 won by pins.
Mize won 9-5 at 140, Smith won 9-3 at 145 and Farmer won by pin at 152. Watson won 17-9 at 160, while Hamilton won 15-0 at 171.
Faulk at 189, Lightle at 215 and Eubanks in the heavyweight division all won by pin.
For the season the Tigers have won 221 individual matches, 111 of those wins have come via pin.
Junior varsity results
The Tiger junior varsity completed in the Sparkman Invitational on Dec. 19.
The Tiger B-team had four wrestlers place. JD Glenn won the 215-pound division, while Matt Zartuche took third in the 152-pound division and Wes Pevahouse took fourth in the 189-pound division.
In the 7-9th grade tournament, Steven Hames took second in the heavyweight division, while teammate Garrett Baldwin took third. Matthew George took second in the 215-pound division.
Meanwhile Isaac Shelton took fourth in the 189-pound division.
Ethan Hamilton took second at 175, while Barrett Eubanks took third at 155 and Zach Hill took fourth at 119.
The Tigers travel to Scottsboro on Dec. 23 for the Scottsboro Super Duals.
