Absentee ballots available

Voters wishing to cast an absentee ballot for the Aug. 24 municipal elections must pick up an application no later than Aug. 19 at 4:30 p.m. Absentee ballot applications are available at city hall.
Absentee ballot applications must be obtained in person or via the mail. A friend or relative cannot pick up an application for you.
Alabama law requires all voters show identification, such as a driver's license, student photo identification or utility bill of the voter. The identification must include the voter's name and address.
The completed absentee ballot must be returned in person or via mail. Each mailed application for a ballot must be sent in individually sealed envelopes. Application requests can be made at City Clerk Rita Lee's office, by calling 773-2535 or by writing to City Clerk, 200 Sparkman Street NW, Hartselle, AL 35640.
If you request an absentee ballot, you cannot vote at the polls on Aug. 24.
The last day to register to vote is Aug. 13 for the Aug. 24 election.
