Candidate thinks more debate needed
Editor:
I challenge the Hartselle Enquirer to do this mayor's race a little different. Let's have three debaters with three different formats.
1. Crestline School – people do the questions.
2. Burleson School – questions from the newspapers and their readers.
3. Civic Center – questions by the chamber of commerce like normal.
(The debate should be held):
Some time in the last of June or July.
Middle of July
Normal (time)
And I challenge Dwight Tankersley and Clif Knight to show up.

Candidate for Hartselle Mayor
The good, the bad and the ugly
Editor:
This letter covers three subjects. I'll call them the good, the bad and the ugly.
First the good: Congratulations to all graduates from Hartselle High and for their stand on school prayer. Ashley Daughette, you will certainly be successful in life.
James Madison stated "The preservation of free government requires not merely that the metes and bound which separate each department of power may be invariably maintained, but more especially that neither of them be suffered to overleap the great barrier which defends the rights of the people. The rulers who are guilty of such an encroachment exceed the commission from which they derive such authority and their tyrants. The people who submit to it are governed by the laws made neither by themselves nor by the authority derived from them and are slaves."
The bad: This is an answer to a recent letter to the Editor. It's not surprising that a student from Hazel Green could play ball at Hartselle. Boys and girls all across north Alabama have played here.
I would like to know how many of the better players in any sport actually live inside the city limits? A name change to North Alabama Academy would be appropriate.
The ugly: Time after time I have read letter to the Editor that were written to chastise one individual. I'm asking the Hartselle Enquirer to cease printing such letters. Talk to the person face to face. Better yet, if you don't have anything good to say about someone, don't say it.
