Funeral for Will L. Murphy, 82, of Hartselle was Sunday, June 29, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gary Miller and Larry McElroy officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Murphy died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at his residence. He was born June 12, 1921, in Morgan County to Frank Murphy and Minnie Viola Brown Murphy. He was a member of Cedar Creek Freewill Baptist Church Church for 40 years, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Army and served with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a friend to everyone he met and loved to talk about times past and present. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, R.B., Oscar, Ray and Ode Murphy and two sisters, Lottie Stevens and Ruth Clardy.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Annie Mae Murphy of Hartselle; three daughters, Patricia Ramey of Falkville, Faye Murphy of Thomasville and Laurie Murphy of Hartselle; one brother, Edward Murphy of Falkville; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Barry Ramey, Blake Ramey, Mark Chaney, Michael Chaney, Luke Patterson and Jake Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Tucker and Jimmy Little.
