Police report

The Hartselle Police Department reported two purse snatchings in Hartselle:
On Feb. 1, a white female was walking through the parking lot at the Kroger shopping center at 8:30 p.m. when a black male approached her from behind and grabbed her purse.
A struggle ensued and the victim eventually let go of the purse. The suspect fled in an unknown direction.
The victim sustained no injuries and the property has not been recovered.
On Feb. 8, a white female was placing shopping bags in her car in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 8:45 p.m. when a black male approached her from behind and grabbed her purse.
The victim chased the suspect to his vehicle and held on to the car for a short period of time. Before fleeing, the suspect hit another vehicle in the store's parking lot. The victim sustained no injuries and the property has not been recovered.
Hartselle Police are asking citizens to be on the look out for a red Ford Contour or Mercury Mystique with front end damage. There may be blue paint from the hit and run near the damaged area. Police caution females to be aware of their surroundings in area parking lots and shop with a companion for added security.
