Danville beats Ardmore, to host Sub-region

Danville – The Danville Hawks may be the Cinderella story of the 2002-2003 basketball season.
The Hawks won the Class 3A, Area 15 Championship by knocking off Ardmore 54-47, giving Danville the right to host a Sub-region game against Lauderdale County. Lauderdale County fell to Rogers 56-54. The DHS/LCHS game will be at 7 p.m. Friday.
As one might expect in a championship game, nerves were frayedHowever, head coach Robert Pope and his Danville Hawks were able to settle in to their game plan quicker than the visiting Tigers.
A trio of Danville players scored 13 apiece, including Nate Orr, Matt Young and Patrick Pinchon. Cody Camper and D.J. Bridges added six.
Seth Vickers scored a game-high 14 for Ardmore.
Camper, Orr, Young and Pinchon made the All-Area Tournament Team.
Danville 78, Elkmont 52
First Round
Danville outscored Elkmont 26-4 in the second quarter and cruised to a 78-52 win against Elkmont in the first round of the Class 3A, Area 15 Tournament.
The Hawks trailed 15-14 after one quarter of play but led 40-19 at halftime, with Cody Camper scoring 14 points in the second stanza.
Danville extended its lead to 28 at 61-33 by third quarter's end.
Camper led the charge with 22 points and four assists, while Matt Young poured in 19 points and had seven rebounds.
Nate Orr and Patrick Pinchon each had seven points, as Pinchon pulled down seven rebounds.
Pierre Pinchon had six points and team-high nine rebounds, Dexter Wimbley had five points, Tyree Murphy and Brandon Turrentine had four apiece, while D.J. Bridges and Stratton Garner scored two each.
Pressnell had a team-high 11 for Elkmont.
