Ruby Louise Taylor

Funeral for Ruby Louise Taylor, 85, of Decatur, will be Thursday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Compton and Ira Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. A native of Morgan County, she was a retired licensed practical nurse. She was a member of Albany Baptist Church, formerly known as Grace Baptist Church. She attended Florence State College and received her nursing license from Tennessee Valley Trade School. She was a long time member of the Licensed Practical Nurses Association and was recognized by the Alabama LPN association as Nurse of the Year in 1993. In 2002 she was recognized by the Alabama LPN association for lifetime contribution and held many state and local offices. She was also a member of the AARP, where in 2002 she was awarded the AARP's community service award by the National Association for Retired Person and held a local leadership position. She volunteered for the American Red Cross, the March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, Christian Dells Bible Camp, Decatur City School and PTA. She was the widow of Pershing Taylor.
She is survived by one son, Ed Taylor of Decatur; two daughters, Judy Glover and Carolyn Taylor, both of Decatur; two sisters, Julia Burden of Decatur and Mary Ryan of Florette; five grandchildren; and one great grandson.
