Lady Tigers control area with win over Muscle Shoals

The Hartselle Lady Tigers picked up a convincing 7-1 victory of visiting Muscle Shoals to move to 2-0 in area play. The Lady Tigers scored seven runs in their final three at-bats to earn the victory.

Katie Norgard and Brityan Godfrey each had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Hartselle offense. Norgard had two home runs, while Brityan Godfrey added a home run. Kaelyn Jones had a hit, two runs scored and three stolen bases. Katie Gillott added a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Blayne Godfrey picked up the win after pitching a complete game, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out five.

Helena 4, Hartselle 2
Helen scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Hartselle 4-2 at the Hoover Round-Robin. Blayne Godfrey took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits while striking out four. Norgard and Blayne Godfrey each had a hit and an RBI. Norgard’s hit was a home run.

Hartselle 6, Chelsea 4
Hartselle scored four runs in the third inning to build some breathing room in a 6-4 win over 7A Chelsea. The Lady Tigers pounded out seven hits in the win including a home run by Morgan Osborn. Blayne Godfrey had two hits and two RBIs. Bailey Lawrence picked up the win after pitching a complete game, allowing four runs on two hits.

Jasper 11, Hartselle 4
In the final game of the Hoover Round-Robin, the Lady Tigers fell 11-4 to Jasper. The Lady Vikings broke open a tight game with a seven-run third inning. Brityan Godfrey and Norgard each had a home run and two RBIs to lead the offense. Blayne Godfrey took the loss after allowing 10 runs on nine hits in 2.1 innings.
