Morgan County softball tourney begins Friday

The Morgan County Softball Tournament is slated for this weekend at Wilson-Morgan Park in Decatur and will feature games between eight of the nine schools in the county. Hartselle chose not to play this year.

The games start Friday at 10 a.m. with pool play. Pool A features Austin, Danville, Decatur and Priceville, while Pool B has Brewer, Decatur Heritage, Falkville and West Morgan. Games will continue at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Priceville enters the tournament with a county-best 26-5 record. Brewer and West Morgan also have winning records.

Saturday will be double-elimination bracket play starting at 11 a.m., with the finals set for 6:30 p.m. An if-necessary game is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Austin won last year’s championship with a 5-4 walk-off win over Hartselle.
