Sula (Sue) M. Downs West

Funeral for Sula (Sue) M. Downs West, 86, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Hartselle, was Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle with the Rev. Harold Thompson officiating.
Burial was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. West died July 30, 2006, at the residence of her daughter in Fort Lauderdale. She was born June 1, 1920, to James Allen Jackson (AJ) Downs and Mary Francis (Fannie) Bobo Downs. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hartselle and enjoyed her family, friends and traveling.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. West of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sons, Charles H. West Jr. of New Albany, Ind. and Ronald L. West of Seabrook, Texas; a sister, Iva Nora (Sis) McGee of Hartselle; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Danny R. Myers, Michael R. Myers and Christopher E. Siems, her brother-in-law, Ray Kirby; and nephews Buster Hughes and Steve Downs.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VITAS Hospice Care, 5420 NW 33rd Ave., Suite 100, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309.
