Tyrus 'T.P.' Turney

Funeral for Tyrus 'T.P.' Turney, 70, of Valhermoso Springs was Wednesday, July 26, at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Center Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Turney died Sunday, July 23, 2006, at his residence. He was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Morgan County to Alonzo Fletcher Turney and Alice Pauline Sharp Turney. He was a member of First Christian Church of Hartselle where he was Elder Emeritus, a member of Brewer Lions Club, Morgan County Cattleman's Association and a former member of the Morgan County Board of Education. He served in the U.S. Army and served as president of the Morgan County Singing Convention. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilda Faye Sims.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Turney of Valhermoso Springs; two sons, Steven Turney of Trinity and Irby Gray of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, R. Jeannine McCormick of Gardendale, Teresa Burton of Saraland and Tammy Cowan of Okeechobee, Fla.; two brothers, Gerald Turney of Valhermoso Springs and Carleton Turney of Somerville; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Turney, Doug Stephenson, Jimmy Sharp, Morris Wayne Edmundson, Bob Sharp, Richard Hale, Ralph Campbell and Royce Turney.
Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday school class at First Christian Church .
