Morgan County's unemployment rate is below the state average.
Morgan County's May rate was 3.0, below the state average of 3.6 percent.
The state continued having a lower unemployment rate than the comparable national rate, which was 4.6 percent in May.
"Alabama continues to be one of the nation's leaders in job creation," Gov. Bob Riley said. "Our unemployment rate remains at historically low levels, and we saw employment grow by another 3,300 jobs over the past month. During the past 12 months the economy has added almost 36,000 new jobs in Alabama."
Nationally, only 11 states recorded lower unemployment rates than Alabama in May.
A year ago, the state's unemployment rate was 4.0 percent.
