Hartselle's Jordan Parker got a late graduation present June 7 as he was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association All-State team. Parker was a first team selection in Class 5A while Priceville's Hunter Teague was an honorable mention in Class 2A. Hartselle's Catie Keel and Priceville's Jessica Hopper were honorable mentions for softball in the Class 5A and 2A teams, respectively.
Parker, Hartselle's senior third baseman this season, made the All-State team for the second straight season – he was an honorable mention in 2005. The UAH signee finished the 2006 season with a team-high 13 home runs and batted for a .319 average.
His 54 runs scored ranked second on the Tigers and he led the team with 57 RBIs. He was also successful on 11 of 13 stolen base attempts.
As a junior, Parker hit a school-record 74 hits. That mark is also fourth overall in the Alabama high school record books.
Teague, a three-sport athlete at Priceville, was an honorable mention pick on the Class 2A team. He hit .380 and had 19 RBIs for the Bulldogs in 2006. Teague, who was the point guard on Priceville's basketball team and the quarterback of the Bulldogs' football team, also stole 25 bases. He hit two home runs.
Keel was Hartselle's No. 2 batter during most of the regular season and led the Lady Tigers in hitting with a .350 batting average. She scored 42 runs, collected 20 RBIs and stole 25 bases.
Hopper was a pitcher and third baseman for the Lady Bulldogs and finished the season with a team-leading .383 average. She hit five home runs.
