Two killed statewide during holiday travel period
During the Christmas holiday travel period from 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, through midnight Monday, Dec. 26, Alabama State Troopers investigated two fatal crashes resulting in two traffic deaths.
A pedestrian and the driver of a vehicle were killed in two separate crashes in Jefferson County. It is unknown at this time whether alcohol was a factor in the crashes.
During this same 78-hour Christmas holiday travel period last year, five people, including two pedestrians, died in traffic crashes that were investigated by troopers and other law enforcement agencies across the state.
