Traffic stop leads to drug arrests

By Staff
A traffic stop led to the arrest of four people last week.
Agents with the Morgan County Drug Task Force were called in to a vehicle stop April 4 off Bartee Road in Lacey’s Spring. Agents searched the driver, Jerry Paul Jett, 43, of Somerville, and two passengers, Sheri Foreman Hendrix, 38, of Lacey’s Spring and Barbie Danielle Hamer, 27, of Lacey’s Spring. Jett was arrested for possession of crack cocaine; Hendrix and Hamer were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Agents later searched the home of Hendrix and Jerry Kevin Hughes at Coffee Bluff Road in Lacey’s Spring. Agents found crack cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and other items at the home. Hughes, 38, who’s also known as “Cowbo” was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana in the second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. An outstanding theft of property in the first degree warrant was also served on Hughes. That warrant stems from a 2005 auto theft in Lacey’s Spring.
Hamer was released on $300 bond. Hendrix is being held on $300 bond. Jett is being held on $1,300 bond and will be transferred to Arab City Jail for outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Hughes is being held on $3,100 bond. He will also be transferred to Arab for misdemeanor warrants.
