June 16, 1955--From today on the Hartselle city hall will close down promptly at 4:30 p.m., according to City Clerk Hilda Thornhill.
June 16, 1955--Mary Grace Morrow, a member of the senior three class at Morgan County Training School and president of the Alabama chapter of the Association of New Homemakers of America, attended the organization's tenth national meeting from June 6-10 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
June 17, 1955--Girls are wanted to help form a ladies' softball team in Hartselle. Jo Ann Dean is leading the project.
June 17, 1955--Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Betterton have now returned from Killeen, Texas, where they visited their son, Lt. Joe Betterton, who is stationed at the Air Force base there.
June 18, 1955--David L. Darden, former principal at MCHS, has been named assistant to the dean of admissions and records at the University of Alabama.
June 18, 1955--Construction of a new building in the downtown area of Hartselle will begin soon, according to an announcement by Liberty National Life Insurance. Phil Orr, owner of the property, will erect the structure.
June 19, 1955--Work has begun on an alteration of the Hartselle Hospital building to provide the needed office and examination room space for Dr. Walter C. Duncan, who moves into the hospital the first of July.
June 19, 1955--A new dwelling is now under construction on Nanceford Road, across from the Grady Long home. J. E. Stone, Jr., is building the home and plans to place it on the market with about a $10,000 price tag.
June 20, 1955--Bentham's Trading Post furniture store has closed its doors. The storefront formerly occupied by this business is now for rent.
June 21, 1955--Robert Peck, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Peck, has been discharged from Jefferson-Hillman Hospital in Birmingham where he underwent surgery on an injured knee.
June 22, 1955--Lloyd E. Logan will serve as commander of John F. Thompson Post 52, the Hartselle unit of the American Legion, when new officers are installed in the near future. Leonard Sterling will serve as first vice commander.
