Priceville wins first area title

The Priceville Lady Bulldogs won their first area softball title Saturday and earned the right to host a first-round sub-state playoff series.
Priceville won the 2A, Area 14 title with a 3-2 win over Westminster in the title game
"This is a pretty big deal for us," Priceville head coach Holly Waters said. "We were the runners-up last year, but its special to get your first area title."
Priceville posted a 4-0 record over the two-day tourney while securing the title.
The opened tourney play with a 5-0 win over Holly Pond, followed by a pair of 8-2 wins over Falkville and Westminster.
The Lady Bulldogs Caitlin Williams was named tourney MVP, while teammates Emily Childers, Jessica Hopper and Jessica Kennedy were named to the All-Tournament team.
In addition to Priceville, Danville and Brewer both qualified for the sub-state round of the playoffs by finishing as runners-up in their area tournaments. Both teams will travel for the first round.
