David Eugene 'Gene' Holmes

Funeral for David Eugene "Gene" Holmes, 72, of Falkville was Tuesday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Falkville with the Rev. Jack Lovelace officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Falkville City Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes died Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Hartselle Medical Center.
He was born May 6, 1932, in Morgan County to George Henry Holmes and Cora Lee Akins Holmes. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Falkville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Godsey Holmes; a grandson, Aaron David Holmes; his parents; and a brother, Charles Lee Holmes.
He is survived by his fianc/, Mozelle Williams of Hartselle; two daughters, Tammie Lynn Holmes of Falkville and Tonya Renee Prater of Daphne; three brothers, Paul William "Buddy" Holmes of Hartselle, George Wallace "Joe" Holmes of Decatur, and Freddie Roy Holmes Jr. of Houston; a sister, Patricia Ann Holmes Coots of Falkville; and three grandchildren, Savanah Jade Holmes, Cade Davis Holmes and David Austin Prater.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
