Writer thanks Dr. Solo Rio
Editor,
Once again, I want to say thanks to Dr. Jay Solo Rio and to Hartselle Medical Center. It is a great feeling and comfort to know we can keep our business, support, etc. here in our own town and not have to put our family to the task of driving 40 or 50 miles to have a procedure done when we have good doctors and a wonderful hospital here in Hartselle.
I had knee replacement surgery June 23 at Hartselle Medical Center performed by Dr. Jay Solo Rio.
I am doing great and my therapists say they have never had a patient of Dr. Solo Rio who didn't do well. He performs surgery at the Decatur hospitals also, but I preferred Hartselle Medical Center. I could not have gotten any better care anywhere.
I want to thank Dr. Solo Rio and his surgery team at HMC for being here, locally, and still knowing the quality of care is here. The nurses at HMC are also great.
I also want to thank Dr. Solo Rio's staff at his office. They pride themselves in his patients. Not only are you his top priority, but you are also his staff's top priority, as well.
Let's all support our local doctors and our local hospital. Dr. Solo Rio is a wonderful orthopedic doctor and I value his experience and all the success he has with his surgery.

City needs business friendly officials
Editor,
As I previously wrote, the upcoming municipal election is drawing near. People need to really evaluate whom they are going to vote for. It isn't really that hard to choose between the incumbents and challengers for all the positions that are up for grabs. From my personal experiences and from talking to literally dozens of people, I offer the following observations:
Of the challengers, I have learned several interesting things about them. One, until recently, didn't know what night the council met. One has recently been seen at council meetings, only to walk in during the very end of the meeting. Another has reflected that he would need the council to meet on a different night, for Tuesdays conflict with his children's schedule. Another has stated he will move to reconstruct the school board according to his agendas. Of the challengers, at least four were hand picked to run for these positions. Two of the challengers have had city council experience, which is a plus.
Of the incumbents, two are radical tax mongers and one of them has other obligations that have prevented him from attending meetings on numerous occasions.
Other incumbents have taken measures that have benefited Hartselle, and the people of Hartselle. One has had a very productive business in Hartselle for a very long time.
One has shown his willingness to face other special interest groups from out of town and beat them at their own game. One has shown he can lead, very well, I might add. One has shown that he, too, is concerned, about all aspects of the city and has had managerial capabilities.
What we need is qualified, business friendly people in these positions, and tell special interest candidates to take a hike. Never has special interest accomplished anything but satisfy a select group of people and deprived the majority of the community of services and improvements. We don't need new taxes in Hartselle, we need accountability for every dollar spent.
