The Southern Baptist Convention met in Indianapolis last week. An Alabama minister was chosen as the new SBC president.
1902 -June 24, The Alabama State Baptist Convention is currently meeting in Decatur with numerous folks from Hartselle in attendance. Tomorrow one of the speakers is scheduled to give a talk on, "The Way to Bring about Co-operation among Baptists."
1935 -June 25, The members of the junior league of the Methodist church were entertained tonight at Bevelye Wray Barclift's home.
2003 -June 25, Wayne Henderson, a member of Southwest Baptist in Hartselle, celebrated a birthday today.
2003 -June 26, As part of its mission work in Romania, the Hartselle Church of Christ is collecting eye glasses from patients no longer able to use them. Donations will bring much improved sight to many people in this east European country.
1883 -June 27, The Methodist, Presbyterian, and Christian Sunday schools had a union picnic today at Breedlove's Spring near Hartsell.
1984 -June 28, Dr. Wilford Bailey, one of MCHS's most distinguished graduates, is now serving both as interim president of Auburn and as an elder of the Church of Christ there. Dr. Bailey is known as a superb biblical scholar as well as a top professor of veterinary medicine.
2002 -June 29, Judy Glenn is currently serving as an elder in the Hartselle Presbyterian Church.
1909 -June 30 A meeting has been going on for about a week at the Baptist tent. No time is set for the closing. The Rev. Otto Bamber is doing the preaching.
1925 -June 30, The pastors of the Methodist, Baptist, Christian, and Presbyterian churches have agreed to hold union services the remainder of the summer every Sunday evening on the lawn of the First Christian church.
1928 -June 30, 1928 In an informal poll of prominent Alabama Democrats, many were noncommittal regarding whether they would support Catholic Al Smith, their party's presidential nominee this year. Judge L. P. Troup of Morgan County was one of the officials who refused to endorse Smith at this point.
